Energy Balls

These are pure balls of goodness and fuel for your body. Feel free to sub ingredients that you like and play with the ratios a little. Keep them in the fridge for a little burst of energy or a healthy snack anytime.

Full of healthy fats, Omegas, fibre, protein, magnesium, manganese, iron and so much more!

RECIPE: Makes about 16 balls.

1/2 cup natural peanut butter (or other nut butter of choice)

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cacao or cocoa powder

1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds or chopped

1/2 cup sesame seeds OR hemp hearts

1/2 cup quick or large flake oats, OR quinoa flakes

Optional add ins:

1/4 cup shredded non sweetened coconut

1/4 cup ground flaxseed

1/3 cup diced raisins or dates

  1. Mix nut butter and honey together.

  2. Add remainder of ingredients and mix well. It should be tough to mix these. They need to have enough substance to stick together. Test by rolling in your hands and pressing into balls. If they aren't sticky enough, add a little more nut butter at a time until just right.

Notes:

These keep well in the fridge for up to two weeks. I often make a double recipe (with a little less honey) as they go fast in our house! I make it with all the optional add ins because - why not?
